The Young Shall Grow
$4,000.00
The Young Shall Grow is a poignant, layered commentary on childhood, community solidarity, and future promise. Centering on two young boys depicted in earthy charcoal tones over an aged, deckled collage of newsprint, one boy gently feeds the other over a cooking pot. Across the composition, energetic, white scribbled lines trace kinetic arcs between the children, symbolizing shared thoughts, dreams, and resilience. Across the upper edge, symbolic pictograms and burned edges frame the scene, transforming an everyday act of communal care into a monument to hope, growth, and perseverance.

Artist Statement
My work explores the complexity of human identity and cultural memory. The figures, masks, patterns, and symbolic gestures speak to the layered nature of selfhood: what is shown, what is concealed, and what is inherited. The composition brings together movement, intimacy, and tension, reflecting the ways people carry personal histories, communal traditions, and emotional experiences within the body. It invites the viewer to move beyond literal representation and engage with the emotional and spiritual presence of the figures.
